01 APR 2011 FRI - Solo Detour KTM Train Ride into History

'NEED' to run a STUPID errand... hahaha April Fool Day! what a good time for such STUPID errand lol... took a day off...

mama had acupunture treatment in the morning, so i went back to have a discussion with the TCM doctor on mama progress. thankful that mama's condition is not deteriorating but maintaining with little little improvement... thankful to mdm ong (tcm dr), not forgetting tini (our domestic helper), for taking good care of mama...

thereafter went JE for that stupid errand, just wanna close the case for good...

reached Tanjong Pagar Railway Station at around 1130hr for my 'solo detour ktm train ride into history'! the station is ceasing operation in JUL2011... before this, i have never enter Malaysia via train, so this gonna be my first and last ride? from my place, i just need to take 2 buses to JB. to take the train, i need to change 2 or 3 buses to tg pagar and the train will then 'pass by my place' lol...

my 1-way train ticket S$13. if i take bus 960 from my place to kranji mrt and change 160/170 to JB, the total bus fare is only S$1.41 hahaha...

1158hr - the ticket booths:

1201hr - the makan place:

1215hr - the malaysia customs office (just office, not the customs booths, so no need to enter here):

1216hr - the departure hall, the malaysia customs booths are inside:

1230hr - after 'clearing the customs':

um.. the clock malfunctioning lei:

1232hr - i still had the complete 'WHITE' card with me after clearing the Malaysia customs? but had yet to clear the Singapore cusotms? ==> i have yet to DEPART from Singapore but i have ARRIVED in Malaysia? though there wasn't any arrival chop on my passport?:

1233hr - view of keppel road from the train:

1233hr - view of the estate from the other side of the train where i sat:

1304hr - the ride began:

1304hr:

1309hr:

1309hr:

1318hr - along bukit timah estate, see the icon, the radio towers on bukit timah hill:

1320hr - after hillview estate, the church next to assumption english school:

1321hr - bukit panjang estate ('my place'):

1322hr - bukit panjang estate ('my place'):

1322hr - the bukit panjang lrt track, the closed down 'ten mile junction' (on-going construction converting it to private condominium), this is the place where the road will be stopped to give way to the train causing a slight jam to the road users:

1326hr 'pretty sky pretty cloud':

1328hr:

1330hr:

1331hr:

1332hr - Singapore Customs @Woodlands, the train stopped for about half an hour here:

1403hr - crossing the border, the water pipes:

1406hr - 'touched-down' JB Sentral (the JB railway station)

1430hr - my first meal of the day @food junction (city sq level 5):

1530hr - bought these 2 books:

LiuYong's (my favorite author) books never disappoint me:

1600hr - haha cathy's indulgence ==> CHEESE cake!:

1645hr - at this moment, i still had the complete 'WHITE' form! when i handed the complete 'WHITE' form to the officer at the DEPARTURE customs, she was puzzled! at first, then i told her i came in by train:

see the difference? on the left is the passport chops on 16DEC10 via air and on the right 01APR11 via train+road ==> no arrival blue chop on my passport (only hand-written arrival note input by the departure officer below the departure red chop):

btw when taking bus 160 or 170 from the Malaysia Customs, it is suppose to be only 1 queue line regardless of which bus you are taking, though there are 2 designated queue counters, because you will be ended up in the Singapore Customs regardless of which bus you take.

haha i saw the queue so long and no one queuing for 160, so i made my way to the front to queue for 160, this malaysian guy at the front (about the 10th) queue of 170, saw my 'puzzled face expression', told me only 1 queue line and explained the above to me. he was so kind to seek permission on my behalf from that few people behind him, to let me cut queue to his front. shared with him about my train ride into history, he said the last time he took the train was in 1990s, thereafter he was away, when back to Singapore again in 2000s, he said so much changes, the shock impact was like when he first visited New York,...

i am not sure if this applies to those paying cash as you need to show your ticket when you resume your journey after clearing the Singapore Customs? i used my ez-link card, took 170 from Malaysia Customs to Singapore Customs, took 160 after clearing Singapore Customs, changed to 960 at kranji mrt, stopped at bukit panjang and total bus fare is S$1.41.

that's all for my 4th solo leisure trip, a REAL SHORT one
(1st - JAN07 India, 2nd - FEB08 Chiang Mai, 3rd - MAR08 India), when & where the 5th one, i m looking forward...
my SQ krisflyer points expiring in JUL11, where shall i go? bali, langkawi or kl?
