Ginseng-root Wolfberry Chrysanthemum Tea

i am enjoying my warm 'cooling' ginseng-root wolfberry chrysanthemum tea [人参须枸杞菊花茶] now :)
brewed yesterday, just brought to boil again in microwave :)

i have some ginseng-root in the fridge, 'hiding' in the fridge for coming to 2 years already i think, bought it then to 补气 as suggested by fangfang... instead of the boring brewing with boiling water, i bought these to complement it - chrysanthemum [S$3] & wolfberry [S$2] :

i think i used about one fifth of the chrysanthemum [S$3/5=S$0.60] & wolfberry [S$2/5=S$0.40] that i bought. as for the ginseng-root... haha you gauge from the pic hor [paisay i am a rather 'free-style' person when in the kitchen] :

before microwave :

after microwave [just bring to boil and steep] :

added honey to taste... this is the freshly brewed 'cooling' ginseng-root wolfberry chrysanthemum tea [人参须枸杞菊花茶] that i enjoyed yesterday... i heart the 甘苦 甘甜 甘香 taste :
boiled '3.5 times' [removed the boiled and added fresh water (about 700ml 3times +400ml)], total yielded about 2.5 litres :)

S$90.61 donated to Hair for Hope 2011

some of my friends noted my tweet about the S$90.61 and asked...

... i did not expect someone i once respected to have such despicable behaviour... i was sad then, tired to continue the fight over his nonsense... i told myself if he is so shameless to seize this S$90.61, i will take that as my donation to charity......

... but... while exchanging thoughts on this with friends... positively, i realised that i did not actually donate it to the charity... he owes me through his shameless act... i dun owe him anything but i am still owing what i have 'pledged'...

... so... to fulfill what i have 'pledged'... i have just donated S$90.61 to Hair for Hope 2011 ...

... um… exactly S$90.61 not more nor less… easier for the ‘one’ reconciling pledges, if there is one up there... muahahaha…

... um... donated to Hair for Hope 2011 also in support of my ex-boss's good deed... tim is a good boss :)
he will be shaving bald on 18 AUG 2011 to raise awareness and funds for the children's cancer foundation...

go tim go... bold tim bold... and for a short period... bald tim bald :)

... if you also want to donate... click Hair for Hope 2011 :)
... understanding the ordeals that children with cancer are subjected to, volunteers shave their heads as a symbolic gesture to help create awareness for children with cancer, in conjunction with the annual CCF fund-raising event...

Pulasan Seed [pu tou san]

heehee i had 6 pulasan leftover in my fridge... wanna try the seed [re my previous post on Pulasan]... so finished them all yesterday...
... tried one seed not bad but kinda 'raw' taste...  perhaps bec it's damp... to me, the texture is more like macadamia instead of almond... also rather difficult to remove the 'woody seed coating' with my teeth... very un-glam also :) ... so:

:) i put them into the oven after rinsing them under running tap

:) after roasting in the oven... very light smell of chestnut

:) the 'woody seed coating' can easily be removed after roasting

:) the taste... um the texture is still more like macadamia
:) still a bit damp... so i put them into oven again

:) the final product after 2nd roasting... the taste... still close to macadamia (the texture)... yum yum

:) next time when i eat pulasan again... i m gonna keep and roast the seeds again...
too bad cannot share the final product... not very hygienic though i washed them before roasting lol

Pulasan [pu tou san]

my second elder brother likes to buy fruits for our weekly family day... never fail to bring back so much fond memories... :) he bought this today...

we had mango, guava, papaya, rambutan,... trees then, when we were staying at the hong kah kampong... but not this... but the neighbour opposite us had this 'pu tou san' tree:

... he said he bought 'grape mountain' today and we were guessing... lol...
we only knew that this is 'pu tou san':
'pu tou' = grape in hokkien
'san' = mountain in mandarin

so.... i googled.... this is Pulasan ... muahahaha....

just noted from wiki that...
'the seed of the pulasan is readily edible raw. It has a flavour somewhat similar to that of almonds.'
!!! !!! ??? ???
... i still have some pulasan in my fridge... will try eating the seed tomorrow ;)

HOME

hahaha this is soooooooo 'home' lor... lol:
