we are 'hokkien lang', to us 'tee gong' is the 'grandest'... so on CNY Day 9... we worshipped the Jade Emperor of Heaven (天公)... the ninth day of lunar new year is traditionally the birthday of the Jade Emperor... the offerings include sugarcane as it was the sugarcane that had protected the Hokkiens from annihilation centuries back...
