my trekking boots

my trekking boots after surviving the training before abc trek, the abc trek and the weekly trek after abc trek...

i am 'rough' on my right side...

too much pressure on the balls of my feet??? closer examination... main pressure on the ball of my right foot n pressure even out on toes n ball on my left foot...

right sole wearing off faster than left... i am pleasantly surprise at the condition of the soles... the black tyre material really tough :)

the leather outer also not bad... oops...

giving way... [must remind myself not to pull the shoe-lace too tight]

i quickly sew it... heehee not bad hor...

hope my boots can continue to withstand the weekly trek n... abit paisay lei wanting the S$160 boots to last for so long but i very hardworking lor... brush n wash the soles n air the boots after each wear... haha so... hope my boots can withstand the 'far' future ebc trek... targeting to challenge the 'everest base camp' trek within next 5 years :)

11 FEB 2012 SAT - My 1st Solo Trek [MacRitchie-RifleRange-BtTimah]

st not in town, so i trekked alone... frankly i struggled a bit in the morning, 'aiya alone not so safe to trek lor,...' lucky enough i managed to overcome the laziness :)

0856 starting point...

0956 at tree top walk 4.9km 59min [chatted with the uncle attendant for about 2min]

1046 at rifle range road 8.7km 1hr50min

circled in pink is the lady i spotted after the tree top walk... soon after here she stopped and asked me how soon she can reach the main road... she started at ard 7am with a few friends, they planned to RUN from bt timah to macritchie to bt timah... she got blister on her toes so the rest continued running while she walked alone... she finished all her 1-litre water... so i gave her some water...
we continued our walk and chat... she is from ipoh, working in s'pore...... she was so happy when she saw a taxi drove in BUT it's a on-call taxi... i told her not to worry, the taxi likely have to drive out from this road after picking up his passenger... so we continued walking...
soon we saw the taxi again... i helped her stopped the taxi... the driver is kind enough to stop and the passenger was so kind too, before i opened the door, he already moved in to the middle seat... so i told them the lady leg pain and asked if they could give her a lift to the main road... then take care...bye... she's off...
hope she is well now :)

1138 bt timah nature reserve 13.2km 2hr42min [at this point i was very exhausted already! however i continued to trek up to bt timah summit after refilling water from the cooler at the visitor centre]

1149 this pic!!! hahaha i was so giddy that i just sat on the road side... in order not to attract attention i pretended taking pic lah, right after i held my head down to cure the giddiness... btw my position here was somewhere in the middle of the vistor centre and the first hut (keruing hut)... i applied some 白花油 (medicated oil) on my nostrils and forehead, then i continued... took a break at the keruing hut... continued to up up again...

1206 at the 2nd hut (simpang hut)... lying flat...

1229 ready to descend...

for the first time i took a break while descending!!! stopped by at keruing hut...

1249 at bukit timah nature park vistor centre 16.8km 3hr53min.... obviously i was not very well still... 16.8km instead of what i facebooked 16.3km... btw i sat on the stone for a while before leaving...

i sat down again... on the stairs of the overhead bridge to beauty world centre... head held down.... then headed to Mc... quite long queue lor... queued for about 10min before i got my ICED-MILO NO ICE!!!... i held my head down while waiting for my milo... guess i will faint if i were to wait for another minute... HENG ah!!!

haha my guess was right... low sugar level!!!... i do not have the habit of taking breakfast before trek lor... i am FINE after i finished the medium size ICED-MILO NO ICE :)

last day of 2011... HAPPY 2012 to all

last day of 2011... the weekly MacRitchie tree top trek in the morning :) ... glad to see lots of local trekking today... also the regular chat with the uncle attendant, this round a real long chat :)

after trek, we had our quick lunch at the 'mushroom cafe' in MacRitchie...

my laksa $3.90 ==> yum yum i heart the gravy, the 'authentic traditional taste'

st's curry chicken rice $4.90

to be frank, to-date we 'struggled' to maintain the weekly tree-top trek... struggled because of the rainy season as well as personal factor... i dunno if i should call it laziness... the first thing i did when i wake up on the day of the trek was to look out of the window to see if it rained... i admit that i would be happy if it rained, paisay hor... likewise for st, lol... anyway despite this... so far so good we still managed to almost maintain the weekly trek [dec 2011 got 5 saturdays, our plan to trek on every saturday... we managed to trek 4 times in december 2011, sometimes rained on saturday so trek on weekdays... we did not trek for 2 weeks b4 x'mas and the trek immediately after x'mas was the toughest, esp after the festive makans] :)

during one of the trek... i nearly stepped on this HUGE worm and HUGE 4-legged snake... st really has the 'same frequency' as these creatures... somehow she can sense them around and stopped me just on time... just 2 steps before i step on them... so scary lor... everytime she alerted me, my eyes automatically looked at about one metre or further from me but these creatures were about half metre from me lor... so took me a while to locate these creatures and automatically i screamed and withdrew a few steps...

chance upon this interesting eatery at TPY after trek one day, specialises in baumkuchen cake, not the noodles we had - wheat baumkuchen restaurant, blk 190 #01-530 toa payoh lorong 6... gotta try the cake one day :)

my 'penguin $4.80'
- green soba noodles in roasted sesame sauce with shredded chicken, fried eggs, carrot, japanese cucumber, lettuce & quail egg
==> yummy... COLD noodles just nice for me after the trek

st's 'lava $5'
- ramen noodles in specialty curry, carrots, potatoes, chicken & lettuce (st changed the ramen to soba) ==> the curry is hot but the noodle cold, when mixed became 'not three not four' [不三不四]... in my view it will taste good if both are hot

this lava is the only 'hot' noodles in the menu... i think can attract some elderly if they serve some 'hot noodles'

anyway today is the last day of 2011... here's wishing everyone a very happy 2012, blessed with happiness, great health and abundance of wealth :)
'climbing' bt timah hill tomorrow afternoon... ended 2011 and starting 2012 'with mother nature'... so blessed :)
