Annapurna Base Camp Trek - Day 07 of 12
MBC 3700m - ABC 4130m
about 2.5 hours [lunch at Annapurna Guest House, ABC 4130m]
MBC… very pleasant walk… the trail follows a stream… before long we can see the hotels of base camp, but the view is deceptive and it takes quite a while to reach them as the trail sticks close to the foot of a large lateral moraine…
many trekkers avoid an overnight stay at ABC by leaving MBC around 4:30am to catch the dawn light, returning to MBC by lunchtime and then continuing down the valley to himalaya or dovan.
i am very grateful that yuba 'ran' up to ABC yesterday late afternoon to pay and secure the room for us... the trail from MBC to ABC is the most enjoyable part of my trek... i wouldn't have enjoyed so much if we leave MBC before dawn, will be very cold then, furthermore st & i usually take a while to warm up in the morning... if not overnight stay at ABC, we will have to rush up and rush down ABC... leisurely or hurriedly, which is more enjoyable is rather obvious right?

0907 we met 'the malaysia girl'... she started her day before dawn and now descending... [yeah! she made it to the ABC despite her knees pain! congrats!]

we chatted for a while, she told us about her book '再穷也要去旅行' (literally - no matter how poor still wanna go traveling)......

... along the way we also met 'the angmoh guy of our pace', he also started his day before dawn and now descending...
0925 another hour to go... very gradual ascending and we were not rushing at all.... i suggested st to keep her trekking pole and try enjoying trekking with 'no attachment'... guess she liked it, she 'hung up' the pole until the next day when descending from MBC... ;)

... perhaps i lame la... i thought 'Base Camp' of a mountain is an area used for staging an attempt at the summit, is positioned to be safe from the harsher conditions above... so i thought this ABC that i approached, is the 'starting point' for the mountain climbers attempting the Annapurna summit... hahaha i thought i will meet some mountain climbers in person... but yuba said this ABC that i approached, is not for this purpose... there is another base camp (the 'starting point') for the mountain climbers... then this ABC that i approached should not be named 'base camp' right? :(
...... i am just curious la... this did not affect my mood enjoying...

1235 i was asking around, looking for the small flag but couldn't find it... i saw this bigger one in daiso, so i bought it... then... patrick managed to find this small one for me... hahaha so this bigger flag gonna be for my EBC (Everest Base Camp) trek??? so big... must jio more people hor???... anyone game enough???

yuba reminded us not to nap, in case we cannot sleep at night, then headache, then altitude sickness (aka AMS - acute mountain sickness)...
1554 so... tea time, the slim bottle with light green cap is my honey, not cooling water, i recycled the cooling water bottle for easier storage and pour-out of my honey...
1554 besides honey, i had another bottle of plum-lime concentrate and curcuma (turmeric) & noni effervescent... these are my favorite drinks... as comfort & remedy drinks along the strenuous trail... heehee i am not a very plain water person :)
soon more people checked-in to our room... 10+1 trekkers...
2 china men+1 china girl, 2 angmoh couples (ie 4paxs), 2 uk men,and us, the 2 singapore girls... fully booked, so the 2 china men+1 china girl shared 2 beds...
we chatted with the 2 china men+1 china girl, the girl from shanghai, the men one from guangzhou dongguan and one flew in from lhasa... their group still have 2 at MBC because no more bed here, the 2 gonna ascend before dawn tomorrow... i worked in guangzhou dongguan for a year in 2002/3, so somehow we could relate and had a good chat... also chatted with one of the uk guy...
yuba is so responsible... sent amir to our room to check if we nap and he himself checked on us for the second time... hahaha we are very obedient ones ok...

... but mine at least the tomato gravy sauce was hot enough, plus the 'japanese fish & seaweed topping' i brought from home (from daiso), ended up 'can eat lor'...
... st's fried noodle... she said LOUSY!... so i tried... it was like... um... the noodle boiled and set aside, egg fried and set aside... when about to serve, in less than a minute, oil heated, noodle added, egg added and served... so... for the first time st ate less than half of the serving...
st had mild headache because of the noisy dining hall... she was already in bed by 7pm... i think i slept at around 8pm...
...um... 10+1 in a room... hahaha... myself and 2 others were coughing quite badly, i guess quite disturbing lor because the next morning, one of the uk guy asked me if i was fine... hahaha also can hear the angmoh couple next to st's bed, kissed good-night hahaha... woa this kissed good-night man snored very heavily throughout the night...... ......
