08 SEP 2011 THUR - 2nd Formal Training @MacRitchie for OCT Nepal Trekking Trip

2nd formal training for today... we planned to do [the yellow trail, 11km, approx walking time 4 hours, trail grade moderate], sampling of mooncake @takashimaya, shopping for sleeping bag @army market, attending briefing @travel agent at jln besar plaza :)

0805:

0823 while waiting for st:

got scared by '4-legged snake' 2 times while trekking in the forest [at around 10am i think], first time small one, second time a REAL BIG one, about 1m long i think, just 1m away from me... we 'zhao ga buay hoo'...... then at 1040hr saw this poster, so i told st, 'aiya i never take any pictures of the 2 '4-legged' snakes that we met just now, so must capture this to compensate... muahahaha...' st replied: 'walau lee a-sai lor... zhao ga buay hoo lor...'
btw we also encountered BIG FAT bees, 1 time 3 bees and 1 time just 1... the FAT body at least 1 inch BIG! first we thought just ignore them and continue our walk... but the buzzing sound around our ears was damn terrifying... the bees buzzed angrily lor! so we also 'zhao ga buay hoo'...

1053 raining:

1054 wow this ah-bei quite 'yong' lor.. steady lei also armed with umbrella, just like us lol:

1055:

1100:

1101 wow the tree growing horizontally:

that's st, ya we were armed with umbrella:

info of the tree:

haha i still yet to figure out how to use the 'panorama function'... so the above 3 pics taken seperately, connected and this is the view:

1107 cool topless angmoh, raining la:

1110:

1111 i 'bo-gan-hoo' or my e72 not good enough to capture the misty view [at this point very light rain, i guess the heat accumulated below the wooden platform before the rain caused the water on the surface to evaporate... that's why misty] :

1124 finishing:

1128 we spent about 3hrs, completed 11km...
H A B C E F G H :

1132 @mushroom eatery [from the bill... under old chang kee] my 'milo no ice'... not milo extreme [ = milo dinosaur] as i thought previously... we were charged for the price of milo extreme [S$2.50 each] as we requested no ice la:

1138 heehee saw the little boy at the next table eating chicken wing... we also got ourselves one each [S$1.40 each] :

after the snack, we had our shower, then took bus 167 to orchard road...

1301 reached this eatery <rabbit brand seafood delicacies> @lucky plaza #02-114, recommended by st, we were served hot chinese tea the moment we sat down... i was pleasantly shocked that the tea was served hot, thick & fragrant enough for the price of the set-meal we were having, somemore in orchard lei:

my tomyam sea-cucumber dang-hoon set S$5.50 only... got chinese tea (above), chinese dessert (white fungus longan soup) [see the extra bowl of tomyam soup to compensate the dang-hoon space in the claypot... this is the first time i came across such, extra bowl of soup to compensate..., where else to find such absolute integrity... THUMBS-UP!]:
this is NICE... though not fantastically nice but for such price, ingredients, quality and quantity IN ORCHARD... very 实在 lor... really value for money :)

st's fish-maw rice set S$5.50:

we ta-bao 2 cans of ginseng bird's nest drink [1 can about S$2 i think]:

1338 @takashimaya to sample the mooncakes:

1400 after finishing my quota for mooncake for this year... [tried walnut, durian, rasberry, yam, pumpkim, lotus, red bean,... added up about half piece of a traditional mooncake lol...] we took a break and enjoyed our ginseng bird's nest drink:
raj (chariot travels) called me while we were having a break here... hahaha he said he had been trying to call us this morning but no signal... heehee in the forest sometimes no signal lor... our 2nd night accomodation not confirm so he suggested we see him next week...
we walked to 313 @somerset to walk walk look look see see... then took mrt from somerset to lavender follow by walked to the army market @beach road ... ...

1513 break-time again... the famous ah balling peanut soup [4 dumplings S$1.60] @golden mile food centre:

thereafter, we walked to nicoll highway mrt and parted here... i reached home at around 4:30pm.... wow walked and walked... added up to be about 7 hours of 'solid' walking i guess... same as what i did on saturday, did yoga and self-massage... no aching the next day :)
guess we are progressing well and fit enough for the nepal trekking trip :)

btw i wore this new pair of trekking sandals (korean brand) for today... also have 'busy' sole pattern... very satisfied... though a little pain on my big toes but no blue-black lor :) as mentioned in my previous post i always have toes problems when having long walk with cover-toe shoes :)
got this from gmarket, paid about S$37 (inclusive of postage) :
