10 SEP 2011 SAT - 3rd Formal Training @MacRitchie for OCT Nepal Trekking Trip

we planned to cover
[the blue trail, distance 10.3km, approx walking time 4-5 hours, trail grade moderate to difficult ==> H A B C D E C B A H]
but at point E we turned the wrong direction... paisay busy chatting... only noticed at point F... so we just let nature takes its course and continued instead of reversing :) so we covered
{[the yellow trail, 11km, approx walking time 4 hours, trail grade moderate] + [the hsbc tree top walk, i think about 2km] ==> H A B C D E F G H}
and we only spent about 3.5 hours to cover 11km+2km... rounds of applause... TQ ;)
the circled area between G & H is meant for below 1113hr where we passed by a tomb.

below are the pictures en-route:

0808 waiting for st:

0809 people already out canoeing:

we started at around 0820, reached hsbc tree top walk at around 0930, just like last week, we chatted with the indian uncle attendant before crossing the bridge.....

last week we asked him about how he settles his lunch and nature calls, he tabao his lunch every morning before heading up... as for nature calls, guess he settles in the forest though he never/ refuse to confirm lol... sure 'lao ga gui kor' lor by the time he rushes down to the nearest toilet muahahaha...

today i asked him if he feels bored... he said weekends not so bad got a lot of visitors ['chao chao' a few thousands] but weekdays maybe 1 or 2 groups every hourly... i teased him that he must have the habit of talking to himself like telling himself 'it is time for lunch, ...' muahahaha... then i asked him do the visitors always talk to him... guess what he said 'ya usually talked to him when wanna ask 'which is the shortest way down?', 'after crossing this bridge can catch taxi or not?', 'nearest where can get loti prata?', 'nearest where can get drinks?',... muahahaha...... i said should put a vending machine near him, sure good business one... he said ya but cannot because people will anyhow throw the drink packet/can... such happened when they had vending machines at the nearby resting point near the toilet... so sickening lor the behavior :(

wanna take a pic of him but he camera shy lei... so no pic of him... if you go hsbc tree top walk, spare a few minutes to talk to him la... so bored working alone up there lor :)

0933:

0940 crossing the bridge... that is the reservoir we walked along the 'coast'? on thursday ==> no! it should be the upper peirce reservoir which is at the north, the macritchie reservoir is at the south of the hanging bridge:

0942 crossing the bridge:

0945 crossing the bridge... dunno which idiot threw this tissue paper:

1029:

1041:

1049:

1104 along the forest walk, unlike thursday where we walked along the 'coast' on the wooden platform :

1113 we walked along this 'coast' with no wooden platform, passed by a tomb!... [the actual location of this is circled in the map, see the first pic of this post.]
on thursday, we did not walk along this 'coast' with no wooden platform because it was raining and we thought no platform might be slippery... so today we thought to go on a different way... never expect to see a tomb along this path! i did not take the pic la, see the pic on the right, it is just behind the turning point:

1121 along the forest path, here can see the 'coast':

1133 coming to the end of forest path:

1139 the icon of MacRitchie reservoir since my younger days:

1141:

1142 a failure design, the path is flooded! i saw the flood on thursday thought due to the rain... but today no rain yet at this point but still flooded:

1142:

1151 energy-replenishment - milo no ice:

we took bus to thomson road [i think about 5 or 6 bus-stops away] to have our lunch at Wee Nam Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice...

1220 it was so packed! st said this is very famous one:

1232 really famous lor, a japanese couple shared the table with us, and the table behind me was occupied by a group of angmoh:

1243 the chicken rice is so fragrant!, we had 'dark sauce chicken ' and roasted pork 'char siew'... really YUMMY! :
