Annapurna Base Camp Trek - Day 06 of 12
Dovan 2505m – Himalaya 2873m – Deurali 3231m - MBC 3700m
about 7.5 hours inclusive of 1 hour lunch break [Shangrila Guest House, Deurali 3200m]
Dovan… cross a stream and avalanche chute… climb across landslide… climb pass a cascade over a rock platform… pass the small simple temple at the trail side to arrive at Himalaya… rocky trail through forests… up steep ravine to Hinku Cave, here high cascades tumble off the high rock walls in all directions… cross the remnants of a glacier (a major avalanche track)… climb through large boulders to Deurali… above Deurali, the valley widens and becomes less steep… this is like the ‘gates’ to the sanctuary as the mountains really start to kick in… climb across more avalanche paths… and through a sparse forest… cross a moraine and descend to a stream… up the stone staircase to Machhapuchhare [Fish Tail] Base Camp (MBC) [Machhapuchhare Guest House, the cluster of four hotels at MBC ==> slept in the dining hall]
There is technically no such thing as ‘Machhapuchhare Base Camp’ since ascents of the mountain are prohibited.

1401 amir came back with a 'not so good news'... Machhapuchhare Guest House is full BUT we can put up at the dining hall... after the 'no room walked to next destination', 'no room slept in tent' and now 'no room, to sleep in dining hall'... yuba was feeling very bad for us and this is his first time having such encounters for his clients... however st & i were managing these very well... letting nature takes its course... we were taking these very positively... as special experiences... :) i am very positive one... always comforting our very 'disturbed' yuba whenever he expressed his apologies on these... 'these are just part and parcel of a trekking trip...' :)
along the way, met 'the angmoh guy of our pace' and his guide... his guide is kinda 口花花 type... his guide asked where we from... i said from singapore and he asked which city... i replied 'singapore is a small city, we ......' the angmoh was few meters away from me, we eye-contacted, he gave me a 'thumb up' gesture haha... then st asked the guide where he from... he said taiwan.. i knew he not lor, so greeted him '你好吗?'... he didn't understand la... the angmoh 'said with no sound' to me: 'local' hahaha... ...... ...... before ending our chat the guide said he from nepal, i replied 'i thought you are from china tibet'...... the angmoh had a good laugh, ‘thumb up’ again... from far 'briefly grasp/ pat my upper arm' gesture and bye bye... haha interactions can be easier in this way during trekking when we were gasping for breath… few meters away via gesture :)
1417
1437 my daily chores include folding toilet roll for our runny nose lol :)
1450 ... yuba worried that we might not have any rooms/beds at ABC on the next day... he'd amir to take care of us while he dashed to ABC to try securing a room for us :)
1452
1453
1453 'the water very noisy lor'... hahaha... st shouted my name a few times to stop me to take pic... see i blur blur..
1453
1454 ... my turn to 'shout back at them' to take pic ;)

1521 we reached MBC 'in amir's good hands' :)
wow our bedroom for tonight... BIG hor... we will be sleeping here tonight, the dining hall... note the benches at the dining tables... the dining hall is transformed into a big bedroom at night... these benches are used to widen the single-beds at the side to make them double-beds...
1651
1653
... yuba came back from ABC at around 5+pm, managed to secure 2 beds for us in a 10-bed room for tomorrow... great!... at least not in tent, not in dining hall, not no beds,...
1809
1813
1834
we sat on the bed at the side after our dinner, waiting... the guides and porters have their dinner after all the trekkers had theirs... then the guest house owner allocated the beds for the 5 trekkers (3 angmoh guys and us, the 2 singapore girls) and 'i dunno how many' guides/porters/guest house staff, as well as 'allocating the head & leg positions'... he very nice, let st & me, the only 2 girls, have the beds at the far corner of the dining hall... so tonight we shared a big bedroom with many many people hahaha
2008 heehee b4 sleep...
2009 see the 'bench+single bed=double bed' shared by 2 guides/porters/guest house staff
... quite noisy initially because the kitchen staff was washing the dishes... zzzzzz... ......
... the next morning... someone (i think the guest house owner la) : ' ...... ...... ... foreigners can continue their sleep...'
