Annapurna Base Camp Trek - Day 12 of 12
Pothana 2010m – Dhampus 1580m – Pedi 1060m
about 2.5 hours Pothana… gentle descent to Dhampus… then on flat land… steep descent to Phedi ==> end of ABC trek!
& Phedi to Pokhara via van [lunch at Hotel Meera, Pokhara]
i was awakened by the heavy rain last night... suddenly became so dark... total darkness... no trace of light from the gaps of the wooden planks wall... hahaha st was awakened too... so scary lor the total darkness...
in my heart i was thinking how are we going to descend in such BAD weather condition...

0734 our descending gonna be 一帆风顺 :)
0736 my nepali set breakfast (the egg for st) and st's gurung bread
aren't we lucky?... the rain stopped when we were about to finish our breakfast :)
however we were all so 'down'... we were like walking with head down, plus the wet ground... so sad! today is the last day of our trek :(

0903 yuba 'beating the backside of the cows' to make way for us... for the last time...
0906 on the way we can see the children joining hands to 'trap' the visitor, singing well wishing religious songs... asking visitor to 'donate'... hahaha my way to get out of the 'trap' is to 'kuji kuji' (tickle) them... this works!

1008 this is where we are heading today... the descent from this point is terrible, not to mention if you are ascending via this route...
... st saw me kept smiling to myself... asked if i was feeling happy seeing oncoming trekkers panting...
hahaha at the beginning of the trekking trip, i told her i always feel very happy seeing oncoming trekkers panting because that implies that they are ascending... which implies that i will be descending... i hate ascending lor!... lol...
but at this portion of the trail... this is not what i was thinking whenever i see oncoming trekkers panting :)... i kept telling myself 'i will never trek up from this trail (up via Dhampus or Pedi) even if it is a FREE trip! muahahaha...
btw we also descent via Dhampus 5 years ago :)

1034 we were up there 25 minutes ago :)
1036 before hopping into hotel meera's van
wow wow a long van-ride out to pokhara, about 40 minutes... can't imagine how we walked from here to pokhara 5 years ago when there was no transport due to curfew :)
we arrived at Hotel Meera at around 1115... checked in, retrieved our luggage, retrieved our passports and $$$ from the safe, had a good shower before joining yuba and amir for lunch to celebrate our 'victory' :)
1218 this is the first draft of amir's 'speech' last night... this is not what i want lei (last night after his 'speech', he promised that he will show me the final draft today)

[ aside to amir... just want to let you know that we really appreciated your effort... need not worry about making mistakes, using the wrong words,... learn from mistakes... keep it up ok ;) ]

yuba & amir had to rush to catch the bus from pokhara to kathmandu this afternoon... so we had the waiter to pack the banana fritters for them to bring along to snack during their bus journey...
hahaha... the waiter asked st if i am a nepali when st was waiting for him to pack the banana fritters, i was wearing my punjabi suit then ;)
1530 hahaha st & i washed our laundry after lunch ;)
1700 we went out walk-walk-look-look-see-see :) ... met the 'ang-moh guy of our pace'... haha he is from germany... he going chitwan tomorrow... thereafter lumbini...

1827 we missed yuba & amir when we were having this pizza... during the trekking trip... 4 of us, each had 2 pieces whenever we ordered pizza :)

note the different table cloth of this pic and the above pic... it started to rain while we were having our main course... so we helped ourselves moved from the outdoor to the indoor as the waiters were busy moving the cushions from outdoor to indoor... also black-out a few times...
1924 i love coffee served with hot fresh milk :) the restaurant in singapore never heat up the fresh milk lor :(
